| Markha Valley Trek is very popular in Ladakh because of its easy accessibility and of-course, beauty. This is the most popular and interesting trek of Ladakh because it offers a variety of Himalayan landscapes, ancient monasteries, Mani walls, series of chortens and typical lifestyle of villages. This trek exists in the south -west of Leh town in between Zanskar and Stok mountain ranges of Trans-Himalayan Range. The area is one of the remotest of Ladakh. Where still to a great extent traditional life continues as it has in the past. the valley has a very beautiful landscape and is well recognized for its bio-diversity, environment, aesthetic and socio-cultural values. two famous expedition summits, Like Kangytse(6700m) and Stok Kangri(6150m) lie in this region.
Markha valley is in famous Hemis National Park ‘ The largest notified protected area in the Trans-Himalaya which lies in Markha Valley’ It harbors rare, unique and endangered species like Snow Leopard, Lynx, wild dog, wolf, red fox, blue sheep, Ladakhi urial, Tibetan Argali and golden eagle, Himalayan snow cock etc. with many other species of birds life according to the season and altitude. Markha valley has many ancient monuments which include ruins of ancients forts, castles and significant monasteries founded in the 11th and 17th centuries. These all make the trek as most important tourist destination for trekking circuit in Ladakh and one of the best. A large number of tourists from all over the world are visiting this trek in Ladakh. |
