|It is one of the most popular trek in Darjeeling, that gives you breathtaking views of Mt. Kanchendzonga(8598m), far off to the west one can see Mt. Everest(8850m)and further to the west towards Nepal,there is wonderful square mass of mountain looking like a wall of snow Chamlang(7317m) and towards east beyond Kanchendzonga Three Sisters Which clusters together, Dongkya and Chola ranges of the Tibetan Frontier with Chumalhari of Bhutan.
This treks climbs steeply from the road head at Maneybhanjan, at 2134 m, for three days to reach the Sandakphu –Phalut ridge at an altitude of 3600 m. Trek gradually climbs up through forests of rhododendron, giant magnolias, spruce and other trees of sub-alpine region and more than 600 varieties of orchids-the largest to be found in one geographical area in the world. For flora worshippers, the months of April and May are the best time of the year for the trek while for those who have an insatiable thirst for a view of the mountains; the best months are in autumn. The trek from Sandakphu to Phalut is along the undulating 3500 m high ridge passing through meadows, forests full of wild flowers and himalayan flora, with the mighty peaks towering in the background. The descent to the road head at Rimbik through the Rammam River Valley, with its gurgling streams and diverse flowering flora is a visual delight. Trek tour starts and ends at Darjeeling.
